Creating a Template from any existing Board removes the complexity of using Advanced Templates (Task Template Cheat Sheet) which requires mapping your process on an Excel spreadsheed. From Precursive v.17, you can create and work on a Board and simply convert that into a Precursive Board Type that your team can use.
How to Convert a Board into a new Precursive Board Type
To convert a Board into a Template and Board Type, open said Board in the Precursive OBX Tab. Then click on the Board's Name and open the right-hand side expandable panel (The Precursive OBX Tab).
From the dropdown menu next to the Edit button, select Convert to Template.
Insert all the necessary information in the window that pops up:
Name [required] - template name
Active - if checked, the Template will be available to use to create a new Board Type
Description - additional information about the Board Template
Create a Board Type from this template - if checked, the Board Template will automatically become a Board Type - this means that when you create a new Board, you will be able to create it using the new Board Type. If this checkbox is selected, an additional field will become available to provide the Board Type name.
Board Type Name - this is the name that you and your team will see appearing in the 'Board Type' picklist when creating a new Board.
Note - Once a Board is converted into a Template, the Board will be locked to prevent accidental edits. You won't be able to make any edits to the Board Details, Lists, Tasks, Team Members, Task Contributors, and Checklists. You can always unlock it by clicking the 'Unlock' button though if you need to make any changes if needed.
