Defining Project Categories allows you to use this field as an additional filter for reporting purposes and it also gives you the possibility to differentiate the color of your Resource Requests and Booking on the Precursive Plan based on the Project Category. Please see Color Code Your Projects for more information.

How to Create and Edit Project Categories

The Project Categories that you can select from the picklist on your Project records are defined by the 'Values' setup for this field on the Precursive Project object. To create new Categories or modify the existing ones:
  1. Navigate to the Salesforce Setup and then to the Object Manager
  2. Search and click on 'Precursive Projects'
  3. Go to 'Fields and relationships' and search for 'Project Category'
  4. Scroll down and you will find a list of the values that you can edit or deactivate if no longer needed 
Note - Deleting Categories is possible as it would affect historical data, but you can Deactivate the ones that are no longer needed.

NB In versions 2.0 and later, the term "Project Categories " does not refer to the content of this article. Instead it is used to refer to a feature which defines a Project's delivery method.
