Precursive comes with a set of out of the box reports & dashboards. Please see Precursive Projects - Reports & Dashboards for a full list with descriptions.

These reports are build using the following Report Types. These report types cannot be edited directly, but if any changes are needed, you can clone them and edit the copy you just created. Please see Create a Custom Precursive Report Type for more information.

Precursive Report Types

Here's a list of all Precursive Report Types.
 
PROJECTS WITH PHASES AND PARTICIPANTS
Contains:
  • all Precursive Projects that contain at least one phase and one participant
Great for:
  • It is great for summary reports, such as expenses, budget, time. The structure of the report type allows you to group data from the project, phase, participant level.
You can use this report type to view:
→ project and phases details such as: Start and End Date, Account, Description, Project Category, Type, etc.
→ budgeting metrics - summaries of the basic budgeting fields on the project, phase and participant level like Forecast and Actual Revenue, Planned and Actual Cost, Profit and Margin, etc.
→ resources’ allocation summary - first booking start date, last booking end date, summary of Planned Hours or Plan to Complete, etc.
Example:
  • ‘Revenue forecast by project and resource’ - this would give you the sum of the revenue for the project broken down by revenue per participant.
Limitations:
  • This report type does not allow specifying a particular date range for the output - you will see all data relevant to a project, phase, or participant.
  • It won’t show projects without phases and participants. For a report that shows also projects without any phase or participant, you would need to clone that one and change the objects relationship to Projects with or without a Phase and Participant.
 
RESOURCES WITH TIMESHEET ENTRIES
Contains:
  • This report type will display all resources that have at least one associated timesheet entry so basically all resources that have any planned or actual hours already logged into the system.
Great for:
  • It will be great for utilisation reporting as it contains resources data like standard working hours and also resources’ planned and actual time by date. Timesheet entry is the only object that will allow you to view your data in time ranges.
You can use it to report on:
→ resources details such as: Department, Resource Role, Joining, Departing Date
→ entries data - summary of planned and actual time per date, per project. The date field can be grouped by week, month, quarter, year.
Example:
  • ‘Actual billable utilisation’ - this would give you last month’s actual hours and actual utilisation per resource.
Limitations:
  • It wouldn’t show resources that don’t have any submitted bookings or actual hours.
 
TIMESHEET ENTRIES
Contains:
  • Use it to generate simple reports based on planned and actual time. This report type contains also basic information about the project, phase, project category, status and type.
Great for:
  • It’s the best report type that can show data per time range as each timesheet entry has a date associated with it.
You can use it to report on:
→ entries data - summary of planned and actual time per date, per project. The date field can be grouped by week, month, quarter, year.
Example:
  • ‘Planned and actual time per project per resource by month’
Limitations:

PARTICIPANTS WITH ENTRIES
Contains:
  • Participants data with at least one timesheet line and timesheet entry. Summary of planned cost and revenue by participant, actual or planned hours per week or date range.
Great for:
  • Reports combining participant information, like project role and timesheet entry data related to planned and actual time in a selected time range.
Example:
  • ‘Open Requests’
Limitations:
  • Reports created for open requests will not show time range from the time entry object. Time range from timesheet entry object applies only to named participants.

 
PARTICIPANTS WITH ACTIVITIES
Contains:
  • This report type will show only those participants who have logged their time against an activity. 
Great for:
  • Reports combining participant information, like project role, hourly or daily rate and cost and activity entry data related to actual time in a selected time range.
Example:
  • ‘Time spent per activity, per participant’
Limitations:
  • Will not show participants who didn’t log their time against project activities. Also, reports created for open requests will not show time range from the timesheet entry object. Time range from timesheet entry object applies only to named participants.

 
TIMESHEETS WITH LINE ITEMS AND ENTRIES
Contains:
  • Timesheets with at least one timesheet line and at least one entry.
Great for:
  • Timesheet reports showing status and the amount of planned and actual time for any given week.
You can use it to report on:
→ entries data - summary of planned and actual time per date, per project. The date field can be grouped by week, month, quarter, year.
Example:
  • ‘Billable vs. non-billable time’
Limitations:
  • Will not show timesheets with no bookings. 
 
PRECURSIVE INVOICES
Contains:
  • Invoices, Invoice Line Items
Great for:
  • Invoice reports showing what the invoice was created for.
You can use it to report on:
→ Invoices and what they were built from, including all the details, like the amount, overriden amount, etc.
Example:
  • ‘Invoices’
Limitations:
  • No limitations.
 
PRECURSIVE OPPORTUNITIES WITH PROJECTS
Contains:
  • Opportunities with or without Projects, with or without Phases, with or without Participants
Great for:
  • Previewing your pipeline, forecasting the demand and margin, analyzing the forecasted margin vs. the actual.
You can use it to report on:
→ Upcoming and running projects and opportunities, budget data, participants' details, like costs and rates, number of forecasted not assigned hours vs already allocated to resources.
Example:
  • ‘Upcoming projects with margin forecast’
Limitations:
  • Won't show projects without opportunities.

 
PRECURSIVE RESOURCES
Contains:
  • Resources
Great for:
  • Reporting on your resource pool.
You can use it to report on:
→ Resources per role, department, location,
Example:
  • ‘Resources by Role’
Limitations:
  • Shows only data related to resources.

 
UTILISATION
Contains:
  • Utilisation records.
Great for:
  • Reporting on resources' utilisation per week, per month. 
You can use it to report on:
→ Overview of the billable vs non-billable hours, productive hours, available working days of a resource within a particular week (excluding time offs and holidays). Overview per resource, department or role.
Example:
  • 'Forecast utilisation per role'
Limitations:
  • Will show utilisation records only for active, schedulable resources. To see all resources and their utilisation calculations you might want to create a report type Resources with or without Utilisation.
 
TIMESHEET ENTRIES WITH ACTIVITIES
Contains:
  • Timesheet Entries with or without Activities

Great for:

  • Actual hours of your resources in a selected time range.

You can use it to report on:

→ Actual time of your resources including the split of hours between certain activities.

Example:

  • 'Actual time by activity per month'

Limitations:

  • Limited number of additional fields on this report type can be adjusted by cloning this one and adding more fields via lookup.
