Public Filters are the ones you see in the filters section of the Precursive Plan. There any user can save their Private Filters (please see Filter Resources on the Precursive Plan for more information), but a Salesforce Admin can also add new Public Filters for everybody to see and use.

Predefining and making some filters available to all users makes it easier for everyone to check capacity of specific groups of Resources and navigate Resource Requests.

How to Create a New Public Filter

To create a new Public Filter:

1. Go to Salesforce Setup
2. Look for 'Tabs' on the Quick Find
3. Click on 'New'

From there:

1. Create a new tab for the Object 'Custom Filter'. 
2. Make it visible only for System Administrators = mark it as 'Default On' only for System Admins. Click Next
3. Don't assign it to any apps and don't overwrite users personal settings = untick all the checkboxes on this section. Click Save

You now want to add this Custom Tab to your Navigation Bar and edit its Layout:

1. Go back to your Precursive app
2. Click on the 'edit pencil' on your Navigation Bar to add this Custom Tab as a new item 
3. Click on the gear icon on he top right of your Salesforce org and select Edit Object 
4. That will re-direct you to the Object Manager, where you can select 'Page Layout' and then 'Customer Filter Layout'
5. Here make sure you drop into the Page Layout the following fields and Save:

• Name
• User
• Editable
• Is Public

Now you can go back to the 'Custom Filter' tab to mark as 'Public' any of your Private Filters:

1. Navigate to the 'Custom Filter' tab
2. Change the List View from 'Recently Viewed' to 'All'
3. Select the Private Filter you want to make Public
4. Edit the record to tick the 'Is Public' checkbox and save
