Some examples of the metrics that can be tracked include: 

• Time to Value

• Time to Kick-Off

• Time to Deliver (from kick-off to delivery of product)

• Time to Launch (from selling to sign off by customer)

Create Task Milestones

Task Milestones can be assigned to Tasks and used to measure time between events.

1. Navigate to Precursive HQ  and search and select Task Milestones

2. Click the New button, provide the Milestone Name e.g. Kick Off and check the Active box ✅

Create Milestone Measures

Milestone Measures can be set up to measure the time between two events, e.g. Milestone X and Milestone Y, or Project Start Date and Milestone Z. For each Milestone Measure, Precursive will create a Milestone Progress record for each Task that is associated with the Task Milestone. This will calculate the interval between the Start Date or Milestone and the Task itself.

1. Navigate to Precursive HQ and search and select Milestone Measures
2. From HQ, select Task Milestone, then select the Task Milestone you want to define Measures for. 
3. Provide a Measure Name e.g. Time to Value and check the Active box ✅
4. Select the Milestone at which the Measure should be complete
5. Add a Target e.g. 30 days (optional)
6. Provide a start date: use either 
   1. an API field name to map to another Salesforce date 
   2. or a Milestone to measure from

The example below wants to measure between 2 Milestones:  Kickoff and Onboarding Complete, with a Target of 30 days.

 

Assign Task Milestones to Tasks

Task Milestones can be captured in a Task Template (use the column header “Task Milestone”), or can be added manually directly from the Task. 
 

 To assign a Task Milestone to a Task manually:

• Locate the Task and select Edit

In the Related to section, locate the Milestone picklist, and select a Milestone that you created in the previous steps

Milestone Progress

The Milestone Progress Related List can be accessed from the Phase level. A Milestone Progress record is created for each Milestone Measure of the Task Milestones referenced. This tells you the progress against the target which is defined in the Milestone Measure. 



 

There is also a new Milestone tab at the Phase level of a Project. Here you can find the Milestone Timeline. This visually shows the interval between all milestones, not just those with a Milestone Measure. Selecting each Milestone will show the interval between other Milestones and the selected one.
 

Clicking the refresh button below the Timeline will refresh the Milestone Progress Records and update the Milestone Timeline.


 

Calculate Milestone Progress

Calculating Milestone Progress is a background process. It can be found in Precursive HQ under the Background Processes tab. This calculates Milestone Progress records, and can be scheduled, or can be run at any time to recalculate every Milestone.
