About

Being a Salesforce native app, Precursive is highly customizable. When working on the platform, you may realize that there are fields you don't need and others that it would be useful to add to your page layouts of field sets. That can be easily achieved by a user with Salesforce Admin permissions. In this article we are going to see how you can edit a Page Layout from the Salesforce setup and remove/add fields from the 3 main Tasks' Field Sets.

Video Overview

How to Edit Page Layout and Remove/Add Fields

To edit the Page Layout of any Salesforce Object (any Precursive object included), you have to:
Navigate to the Salesforce Setup (gear icon on the top left of your Salesforce org)
  1. Go to the Object Manager Tab
  2. Select the Object you want to edit the Page Layout for (for example Precursive Task)
  3. Go to 'Page Layouts' and select the Layout you want to edit. Note - here you may find different layouts per each profiles (Sales, Support, etc..) Make sure you select the correct one you want to edit.
  4. The Page Layout will show the current set up. You can there see what Fields are currently displayed on any of your Object Records and you can use the top bar to drag and drop additional fields on the different sections. Or remove unwanted fields by dropping them back into the top bar.
  5. Make your edits and Save

After saving, the changes you made will reflect directly on the layout of every new and existing record for the selected object. For example, if we add the 'Remaining Hours' field to the page layout of Precursive Tasks, in a section we'll name 'Effort' (as we can see in the image above), this field will be displayed in that position on every Task Record.

How to Edit Precursive Tasks' Field Sets

In a similar way, you can edit Field Sets for Precursive objects, such Precursive Tasks and Boards. There are 3 main filed sets that you may want to edit for your Precursive Tasks for example:
  1. Plan View Columns - especially if you want to Export the Plan to share with your customer
  2. Window for creating/editing Tasks
  3. Record Detail Pane: the expandable pane on Precursive Boards

To remove or add a field to one of these Field Sets, you can follow the steps below:
  1. Go to the Object Manager Tab
  2. Select the Object you want to edit the Field Sets for: in this example, select 'Precursive Task'
  3. Go to 'Field Sets' and select the Field Set below depending on what set you want to edit:
    • Plan View Columns
    • Window on creating/editing Tasks = Edit Modal Fields
    • Record Detail Pane

On each you will be able to see what fields are currently displayed for each set and, in the same way as you'd edit a Page Layout, you can use the top bar to drag and drop additional fields or remove unwanted fields by dropping them back into the top bar. And Save.

Edit Precursive Boards, Projects, Phases and Participants Field Sets

In the same way you can edit Tasks Field Sets, you can edit them for other Precursive objects including:

  • Precursive Boards: field sets for the creation of a new Board, for editing and the Details page on the expandable pane on the right-hand side of your Project Plans
  • Precursive Projects and Phases
  • Participants
