About
Subtasks are Tasks on the Board which are related to a Parent Task. You can use Subtasks to divide a bigger Task into smaller parts of work and assign different contributor to each of them. Subtasks add another level of granularity to your Precursive Tasks as you can set due dates, assign checklist items, contributors and time dependencies for each one. Subtasks can also move throughout the different lists on the Board independently from its Parent task.
Note - When a Parent Task has one or more subtasks, it will inherit the Start and End Date of its subtasks. To edit a Parent Task’s Duration, Start or End Date, you must edit its subtasks. But, when a Parent Task is complete, its subtasks will not automatically be completed and vice-versa.
How to Turn a Task into a Subtask
You can turn any Task into a Subtask. All you need to do is selecting a Parent Task to insert in the relevant field in the 'Advanced Options' section when creating or editing a Task (
Add and Edit a Precursive Task).
How to Add a Subtask to a Parent Task
You can also add an additional Subtask to an existing Parent Task by working on the latter. In this case, you need to select the Parent Task and open the Right-hand side Pane on your Precursive workspace. From there, you have 2 options:

-
Hover over the dropdown arrow next to Edit and select 'Add Subtask'
-
Select the Subtask Icon and then click the Add Subtask button

Work Breakdown Structure
Viewing the Subtasks of a Parent Task
Precursive allows for 2 levels of Subtasks on from a Parent Task. This helps keep Project Tasks organized at a more granular level.
To reduce the risk of important work being missed, Subtask Levels can be broken down on the Board to only allow visibility of those Tasks and Subtasks related to a specified Parent Task.
By selecting the number of Subtasks Assigned to a Task, those Subtasks appear on the Board with the ability to back track to the Parent Task and all Board Tasks.
Parent Tasks, Tasks, and Subtasks can be broken down from the ‘Plan View’, making it easy to identify when deliverables are falling behind.

Subtasks can also be viewed on the right side pop out when selecting the Parent Task from the Board.
-Select Parent Task and Subtask button on the right hand side.
-Next, select the related Tasks to view further Subtasks.

Note that the ‘Parent Task’ at top right of screen has been changed to the related ‘Task’ and the related Subtasks are now visible.
