(OBX) How to add New Picklist Values for Stages and Team Roles

When adding Stages and Roles to a Task Template, you need to make sure these are also added as Picklist Values in the Salesforce Setup. Let's see how we can do that!

One of the most common errors that you can get when validating a Task Template is for a Null or Invalid Picklist for your Stages or Roles. These means that you have entered new Stages/Roles to the relevant columns of your Task Template, but you either misspelled them, or you are trying to validate your Template before adding them as Picklist Values in the Salesforce Setup.

How to add New Picklist Values for Stages and Team Roles

Before validating your Task Templates, make sure you follow the steps below:
  1. In Precursive, click on the gear icon on the top right to access SF Setup
  2. In the Quick Find of Home tab, look for ‘Picklist Value Sets’
  3. Click on ‘Board Stage’ or ‘Team Role’
  4. Scroll down to ‘Values’ and make sure that Roles/Stages you entered in your Task Template are also present in this list with the same spelling and capitalization

If you haven’t entered them yet, you can add them from here:
  1. Click on ‘New’ next to value
  2. Enter each value on its own line 
  3. Tick the checkbox for ‘Add the new picklist values to all Record Types that use this Global Value Set’ and Save

You are now ready to upload and validate your Task Template!
