About
Precursive comes with a suite of out-of-the-box reports and dashboards to help your team get started with the powerful analytics Precursive can bring to your organization. In this article you will learn about these reports, how you can give users access to the Precursive reports folders, as well as collect reporting requirements from your team and how you can meet their needs.
Precursive Reports & Dashboards
Precursive does comes with a set of reports & dashboards, but we need to make a distinction:
Regulating Access to Precursive Reports & Dashboards
Precursive sample reports & dashboard may not be visible to all your users by default. Each user’s access to these folders is based on a combination of their assigned permissions sets and folders access. A Salesforce Admin can make sure this are in line with your needs. Here's how:
- In order to give users access, you first need to check that their Permission Sets give them access to these records. These should have been correctly set up in collaboration with our Services Team during implementation, but you can use this Precursive Permission Sets Breakdown to troubleshoot any issues after taking the following step.
- Once all the relevant users, have been granted access to these records, you can define what access each user should have to each of the available reports' folders. As per any Salesforce report folder, you can share it with specific groups or users and define whether they are responsible for managing that folder of if they are only allowed to edit or view the reports stored there. Please check Regulating Access to Precursive Reports & Dashboards for more information.
Once users have been given the relevant access, they will be able to access Precursive out-of-the-box reports and dashboards following the steps below:
- Navigate to the Reports or Dashboards tab
- Click on 'All folders' on the left-hand side
- Search 'Precursive'
There you will find a list of all your available reports and dashboards respectively.
Managing Precursive Reporting
Now you have implemented Precursive and made sure that your team has access to its reporting: how can you manage your business reporting requirements?
As best practice, we recommend:
- Collect Reporting Requirements: first suggest your team leads to collect their requirements. You can use this Reporting Requirements Collection Form.
- Explore out-of-the-box Reports & Dashboards: you can then go through the out-of-the-box reports & dashboards listed above to see if there is a sample report you can use to meet these requirements or one that you can easily edit to achieve the goal.
- Edit Existing Reports or Build a New Report: you can then either edit an existing report or if you feel the report that you are looking for is not there, you can check is there are Precursive Report Types you can use to build a new report from scratch. You can find some examples on how you can build new reports from scratch among our Tutorials for Reporting on Services Delivery Progress & Performance.
- Create a Custom Report Type: if the provided report types still don't meet the requirements because you cannot find a specific field you need or you need different object relationships, you can Create Custom Precursive Report Types
Note - Precursive Report Types cannot be edited directly, but
you can clone a Precursive Report Type to create a custom one.
