Precursive Board Types identify with project types and it is recommended to have one associated with each of your repeatable business processes (i.e. Implementation Product A, Success Plan Year 1, Partners Onboarding, Employee Onboarding, etc..). They can be created by Precursive Super Users and Salesforce Admins.

A Precursive Board Type is constituted by 3 main elements:

1. A List Template that defines the configuration of the Lists (or columns) of the Precursive OBX Board. Lists usually reflect the status that Task can be in through the deployment of a project (e.g. Not Started, In Progress, Waiting, Complete, Did Not Happen). 2. A Task Templates that defines the set of Tasks that constitute the particular business process for which the Board Type has been created. You can use a Task Template to breakdown a particular workflow you would like to be run on a Precursive Board. Please see Task Template Cheat Sheet  for more information.
3. A Board Process Path (similar to an Opportunity path) that displays the main stages of a project. This third element is optional and a Board Type can also be created without it.

Precursive OBX comes with two Board types out-of-box: Project and Team, which can be re-labeled to best describe your team’s projects.

How to Set Up a New Board Type Record

 

All you need to do is navigate to the ‘Precursive Board Types’ Tab, click new and fill the form in the window that opens up.

Make sure you don’t miss the fields below and the New Board Type will be immediately available for you and your team to use.

When filling this form, you can also define the following fields:

• Board Color - you can assign it a color of your choice. Every Board created using this Board Type, will then display that color on the top header
• Board Template - leave blank
• Owner Role - you can select a role for it to be automatically assigned to the user who creates a Board using this Board Type
• Board Queue name (use API associated to the queue name)
• Board Field Set - a fieldset unique to the Board Type can be created in Precursive OBX Board and will add an additional set of fields to the Precursive OBX Board edit pop-up window
• Task Field Set - a fieldset unique to the Board Type can be created in Precursive OBX Task and will add an additional set of fields to the Precursive OBX Board edit pop-up

You and your team can now navigate to the Precursive OBX Tab and start using your newly-created Board Type to create your Boards. Please see Create and Edit a Precursive Board  for more information.
