Want more detail? Precursive 2.14 – Extended Release Notes and Enablement Guidance Version 2.13 This release brings key improvements to Project Budgets, designed to better support Managed Services delivery. New capabilities make it easier to automate Project creation, control Budget lifecycles, and forecast effort across both time-bound and ongoing service engagements. What's new: Project Budget Expiration and Cancellation — Project Budgets can now be marked as Expired or Cancelled to reflect their lifecycle more accurately. Expired budgets naturally end when their usage window passes, while cancelled budgets represent work stopped early. Both statuses are excluded from rollups, ensuring cleaner reporting and governance. Learn more here.Enhanced Project Automation by Categories — Projects and Phases can now be automatically created and grouped from Opportunity Products at two levels. Projects can be split by Product or Project Category, and Phases can be grouped by Product or Phase Category. This enables, for example, a single Opportunity containing both Implementation and Managed Services to generate two separate Projects, each with its own Phase structure for delivery tracking and reporting.Simplified Phase Lifecycle Setup — Stage Process now uses Salesforce-native configuration. Phases follow defined Record Types and Paths, making it easier to set up and manage delivery lifecycles while providing teams with clearer guidance and more consistent reporting. Learn more How to build a Phase Stage Process?. What's improved: Plan to Complete Enhanced — The definition of Plan to Complete fields has been updated to combine actuals from Timesheets with future planned work. This provides a forward-looking view of remaining budget and effort, giving Project Managers clearer forecasting and earlier signals for corrective action. Understanding Plan to Complete article is a guide that explains how the metric is calculated and how to configure it in your Project and Phase views.Project Budget Planned, Actual and Remaining Hours — Project Budgets in Hours/Days now include rollups of Planned, Actuals, and Remaining values. Rollups also extend to Fees/Hours/Days at the Phase level, providing better visibility into financials across scope and managed services budgets.Timesheet to Budget Linking — Ensured that Timesheet Entries associated with Tasks correctly inherit the Project Budget from the Task.Health Rating and Insights Validation — Added validation to prevent creating Health Ratings and Insights without linking them to a Phase. What's fixed: Kanban and Gantt Loading — Fixed an issue causing infinite loading when Phase Header fields were inaccessible.Timesheet Entry Validation — Added safeguards to prevent Timesheet Entries from being removed in ways that could lead to data discrepancies. The following manual steps are optional for this upgrade: Configure Stage Process to track Phase lifecycle and give teams clear visibility into progress at each stage.Configure the Product2 object to enable the new Project Budget structure, so that Projects and Phases can be created and grouped automatically by Categories. Detailed description can be found here.Apply updated Plan to Complete values on Archived Projects by temporarily disabling validation rules, running the Calculate Budget batch from HQ, and re-enabling validation rules — contact our Support Team if you’d like help with this. What's fixed: Enhanced Task Template Support – Improved handling of large and complex Task Templates, now supporting up to 500 tasks.Project Budget Automation – Negative Opportunity Line Item quantities will no longer trigger automatic Project or Phase structure creation.Subtask and Parent Task Sharing – Updated customer sharing rules to ensure sub-tasks can only be shared if their Parent Task is also shared. This prevents inconsistencies when granting customers access to tasks.Expense Record Ownership – The Owner of an Expense record is now always a Resource, rather than the user who created it. This change improves consistency and aligns with recent sharing enhancements.Editing Time Entry Settings for Public Phases – Users can now edit the “Allow time entry outside of bookings” setting when the Phase is Public in the Participant Edit modal.Date Filtering in Resource Plan – Fixed an issue where Custom Filtering Fields based on Date fields were not working correctly in the Resource Plan. When upgrading, it is recommended to verify that the following Critical Updates have been successfully completed by navigating to Precursive HQ > Critical Updates. Recalculate Task Sharing Logic Based on Task structure — In this version, sub-tasks can only be shared externally if their Parent Task is also shared. To enforce this rule for existing data, the post-install process includes logic to recalculate sharing flags across all Task structures.Map User Settings into Project Access Levels on Participants — To align with the Private Sharing Model, Custom User Settings that restricted access to certain records have been replaced. A mapping system has been introduced to convert deprecated Custom Settings into Project Access Level records.
