About
When purchasing the Precursive Platform, on top of its implementation, you buy different groups of License Types depending on what access your Users need to the platform. On your order form, you can find a complete breakdown of the different License Types you purchased.
When giving Users access to the Platform, you want to make sure you respect this breakdown. Users' License Type is determined by what Permission Set Groups you assign them.
Before we can jump into how we can give your Salesforce users access to Precursive respecting what stated in your order form, it's important to understand: What is Precursive?
The Precursive Platform is a '3 for 1' Deal!
It consists of 3 packages that are installed on your Salesforce instance:
- Precursive - the Precursive PSX/RCO app where you can find data related to Precursive Project & Phases
- Precursive OBX - the app where you can find all the data related to Precursive Project Boards
- Precursive Connect - the Precursive Platform app which connects the data between Precursive PSX & Precursive OBX.
Managing Access to the Precursive Platform
To give users access to the Precursive platform, you need to assign them:
- A Precursive Permission Set Group - their assigned PS Group defines what Precursive objects and fields hey can see/edit and it determines what License Type they get assigned. Please see Precursive Platform (OBX+PSX/RCO) License Types & Permission Set Groups for instructions on how to complete this step.
- A Precursive OBX Package License - please see Assigning Precursive OBX Package Licenses to learn how.
- A Precursive Package License - please see Assigning Precursive PSX/RCO Package Licenses to complete this step.
In order to assign users Precursive Licenses and appropriate Permissions, you need to have the following permissions yourself. That is usually the case for a Salesforce Administrator.
Salesforce User Permissions Needed
|
Manage Package Licenses | To manage licenses for an AppExchange app |
Assign Permission Sets | To assign permission sets |
[Only Salesforce users who require access to Precursive and related data (including reports & dashboards) need to be licensed.]
Check License Type Assignments
After creating and assigning these Permission Set Groups and Resources, the numbers of Licenses users per each Type should match the numbers in your Order form. If not, you may incur in extra-costs.
Please make sure you follow our guide for Auditing License Type Assignments (PSX) to prevent being over-charged for over-assignment.
If you have purchased 'Precursive OBX Collaborator' Licenses, please also see our instructions for Auditing Precursive OBX License Type Assignments and check your total assignments for the 'Precursive Read-Only' Permission Set Group.
