What’s improved:

  • Multiple Resource Allocation (Managing Resource Requests): a new, very user-friendly navigation on the Precursive Plan between the resource requests pipeline and the resource pool. When you click on 'Resource Mode' and select a role request, 2 windows are displayed: Resource Requests - on top - and Resources list filtered by the selected Role - at the bottom.
  • Holidays Days on holiday component: Allows you to see how many working days you have submitted against a holiday code. Holiday Days are automatically calculated upon creation of a Holiday requests - the calculation considers the Resource's 'Hours Per Day' (field on Resource record) and the leave 'Hours per day' requested (inserted when the Holiday request is created).

Version 1.85 - Winter '22

What’s improved:

  • Multiple Role Allocation: you can assign the same resource to multiple Roles required for the same Project's Phase
  • Holiday Improvements: we have migrated the set-up of holiday and leave projects to Time Codes (About Time Codes) .
  • Settings on Precursive HQ: the Precursive Setup page has now been moved to an easy to navigate interface on Precursive HQ within the UI. You can now search, check and adjust your global, user/profile, and mobile settings from the HQ.
  • Multi-currency advancements: within this  release, you will now be able to assign rate cards with a different currency than assigned to your project. The invoice amount will then be calculated in the back to your org currency. (About Multicurrency )
  • Recalculating Billable Utilisation: Utilization records will now be calculated only for the weeks your resource has been employed. Therefore excluding weeks before and after their start and end dates. These calculations can also be manually run daily from the Precursive HQ.

Please see Precursive Winter Release '22 for more information.

Manual Upgrade Steps:

Version 1.84 - Summer '21

New Features

  • Productive Utilization: when using Time Codes, you can now define which of them should count towards productive hours on Utilization.
  • Excluding Leave Time from Utilization: you can also create a specific Time Code for your Leave projects that will exclude the Leave hours from the Available Hours calculation in your Utilization reports. Please see About Time Codes and Configure Time Codes . As we’ve added a new field for Availability, you might also want to update your reports to replace the 'Standard Available Hours' field (preempt__Utilisation__c.preempt__availableHours__c), which only excludes Time Off from utilization calculations, with the 'Available Hours' field (preempt__Utilisation__c.preempt__adjustedAvailableHours__c), which excludes both Time Off and time logged against projects with a 'Leave' Time Code. The old field needs to be replaced on all reports and report formulas in the Precursive Utilization Trends folder.
  • Proximity Search: you can easily find out which of your employees is closest to the project site. On the Precursive Plan, you can also define what distance a resource should be from the project site and set that as a filter. Precursive will automatically search for people within that distance. Please see Proximity Search Configuration and How to Use Proximity Search .

What’s improved:

  • Improvements to Precursive HQ: we have added new tiles for Email Reminders and Time Codes configuration to the Precursive HQ, improved the way you set up the Colours Configuration and added a new action for the Critical Upgrades steps.
  • Project Expenses: we’ve added a new setting defining what expenses’ statuses should be included in the Expenses Costs and Revenue calculations. By default, it includes Submitted and Approved expenses. If you wish to include the un-submitted ones, read more about Precursive Global Settings .
  • Number of Approval Items: We’ve added an improvement to the new Approvals page and component that will now allow you to see how many approval items are in your queue.
  • Budget Extension : ff there are budget calculations that are missing for you in our product and you would like to add those with your own custom code, now it’s possible as we’ve added a functionality that permits us to extend our core budget logic with your own.

Please see Precursive Summer Release '21 for more information.

Manual Upgrade Steps:

  • ✅ No manual upgrade steps required.

Version 1.83 - Spring '21

New Features

  • Forecast Demand: a new extended data model for resource requests and the Precursive Forecast Demand dashboard will help forecast demand and identify capacity crunches. You can find the new dashboard in the Dashboards tab in the Precursive Forecast Demand folder. Please see Precursive Projects - Reports & Dashboards for more information.
  • Project Billing: you can now create invoices directly in Precursive using the data collected by the platform. We are releasing a pilot version of this feature. To take part into the pilot, please contact our product team at productteam@precursive.co.uk. In the future, we expect Project Billing to be a separate module to Precursive PSX that will require separate licenses. Learn more About Billing.

What’s improved:

  • Participants Costs & Rates: improvements to the UI related to participants' creation will allow you to deicide and clearly understand where the costs and rates for each participant are taken from. You can decide if that should come from the Resource, the Role of the Participant or if that should be a fixed rate. We have also implemented a new way of setting up permissions to the participant data. Previously, only Project Managers and Super Users could access the Project and Participant data. Now, you can share this access with your wider team and hide some of the fields that you don’t want necessarily to be visible for everyone. You can now add the ability to access projects & participant data without giving access to the budget fields or any other field using the field level security on Salesforce.
  • Improvements to Roles Management: you can now manage Roles directly from the Role Object in Precursive HQ. Changes to your roles’ list will automatically apply to the Resource Role drop-down list.
  • Default Public Filters for New Users: you can now define what public filters on the Precursive Plan should be set as default for your new users. You can access this setting from the Custom Filters tab. All you have to do there is to find the public filter and tick the ‘Default’ checkbox next to it.

Please see Precursive Spring Release '21 for more information.

Manual Upgrade Steps:

Version 1.81 - Winter '21

New Features

  • Time Codes: you can now define Time Codes for Phases and Activity Categories, not only for Projects. This allows the utilization and budget calculations to be more precise. Also, Time Codes can be configured in a way you can decide whether the time associated with them should contribute to revenue, costs or time in the project budget. Learn more About Time Codes and Configure Time Codes .
  • Configurable My Precursive: 'My Precursive' is now a configurable page that you can customize according to your team's needs. There are 4 new components that you can add to this page: Timesheets, Holidays, Expenses and Approvals.
  • 'My Precursive' Header Component: Admins and Line Managers can now use the Resource Picker on the header component of 'My Precursive' to see the data on all the other components of the page as the selected resource on the picker. Select a resource and you will see their timesheet, logged expenses, and holiday requests and allowance.
  • Holiday Component: the Holiday component allows resources to see their holiday allowance and submit holiday requests.
  • Expense Component: the Expense component allows resources to submit project-related or internal Expenses.
  • Approvals Component: Line Managers and Admins can use this component to quickly review their queue of approval items sorted by the oldest submitted ones.

What’s improved:

  • Improved Security: security improvements related to the Create, Edit, Delete and View permissions as well as the Field Level Security permissions. If you are using custom permission sets or profiles and after the upgrade, you notice any issues with accesses, you might need to update the permissions on the permission sets and profiles to enable accesses to objects and fields.

Please see Precursive Winter Release '21 for more information.

Manual Upgrade Steps:

Version 1.79 - Summer '20

New Features

  • Multicurrency: Manage Projects, Resources and Expenses in multiple currencies. Precursive converts between the cost of a resource, the project billable rate to work out the budget, cost, revenue, and of course, the margin into a Project currency, as well as always calculating this in the orgs base currency. Learn more About Multicurrency.

What’s improved:

  • Promotions: the promotion feature has been improved to include the costs changes over time and to keep the information about those changes on each timesheet entry. This will now allow you to report on promotions and costs on a daily level.
  • Precursive Plan Component: you can now embed Precursive Plan component into the Project, Phases or Participants records. You can now schedule people to projects, see their capacity, book and assign resource requests directly from the project page. The view is pre-filtered to the context of the record in which it sits - so that you see only the bookings of the participant, phase, or the project you are looking at.
  • Improved Timesheet Performance: new timesheet entries are now saved in the background - and you will notice the difference, especially if using the tab key to move between records. And longer comments are not a problem anymore, you can now expand the comment window.
  • Add custom fields to Resource and Add Custom Fields to Project and Phases : you can now add your own fields to the New Resource/Project/Phase Modals and configure what fields should be available when you create new records.
  • Scheduling Background Processes easily: Precursive uses background processes that keep your information up-to-date. These are now available to schedule or run immediately from Precursive HQ. Please see Background Processes  for more information.

Please see Precursive PSX Summer Release '20  for more information.

Manual Upgrade Steps:

  • ✅ No manual upgrade steps required.

Version 1.73 - Spring '20

New Features

  • Time Off per Location: you can now set up Time Offs per location. Assign locations to your resources and create Time Offs for either global or local public holidays. If you don’t assign any location to your team and time offs, all created time offs will be treated as global and will apply to everyone in your organisation. See Set-up Time Off for more information.
  • Utilization Object: we’re introducing a new Utilisation object which will calculate your team’s planned and actual utilisation taking into consideration their real number of working days. The calculation of working days will exclude non-working days of the resource and time-offs (public holidays). Utilisation is calculated on a weekly basis but you can also recalculate it manually from Precursive HQ at any time. The only limit here is that you recalculate up to 6 months at once. Please see Utilisation for more information.
  • Utilization Reports: in the Utilisation Trends dashboard, you will find your forecast and actual utilisation metrics per person, role, and department. You will be also able to track billable utilisation specifically. As the new calculations for utilisation have been improved and include the number of working days for a resource in a given period, you can stop using the Precursive Utilisation folder and delete it and start using the Precursive Utilisation Trends reports. Please see Tracking Resources' Capacity & Utilization for more information.
  • Precursive Reports & Dashboards: a new set of reports and dashboards will allow you to track your budget, time and utilisation trends over time. Here's the complete list of Precursive Projects - Reports & Dashboards.

What’s improved:

  • Default Capacity Mode for Precursive Plan: you can now decide how to visualize resources' capacity on the Precursive Plan - either as a percentage or as available hours left from their daily working hours. Lear more about Precursive Set Default Capacity Mode.
  • Quick Bookings: you can now create bookings for a resource from the Precursive Plan by simply double-clicking on their row on the calendar. In the Quarter view, for those resources who are not working the full week, the quick booking functionality will automatically create a booking from the first till the last working day of a resource.
  • Weekend Timesheets Auto-approval: you can now auto-approve blank weekend timesheets so that they don’t appear as overdue if they were not submitted.

Manual Upgrade Steps:

  • ✅ No manual upgrade steps required.
