How to upgrade to the latest Precursive OBX version?

Version 21.0 - Winter '22

New Features

  • Precursive Customer Workspace: a Customer Workspace built on Salesforce Experience Cloud (formerly Community Cloud) that will give you the possibility to not only share Precursive Boards with Customers, but to have them collaborate on Boards directly as if they were part of your team. Please see Introduction to Precursive Customer Workspace for more information.
  • Multiple Task Dependencies: you can not create Task Dependencies assigning multiple Successors and Predecessor to each Task, both via a Task Template or directly on a Precursive Board. Tasks won't have to be scheduled one after another, but different Tasks can now be scheduled to be carried out simultaneously. Please see Managing Task Dependencies for more information.

Please see Precursive Winter Release '22 for more information.

Version 21.8

What's new:

Version 21.6.2

What’s fixed:

  • Time Log Pre-Fill Issue: Resolved an issue when logging time from the Task Lightning Detail page. In the Log Time modal, the User field (when added to the layout) failed to pre-fill with the current user and did not respect changes made to the field. This behavior is now fully corrected.
  • Improved Contributor Filtering: From the Task Lightning Detail page, adding a Contact Contributor now accurately filters results based on the Board’s Account or its Parent Account. Additionally, the result limit has been expanded from 3 to 50 for greater flexibility.
  • Share Modal Overflow Fix: Resolved an issue where, with many Board Team members, opening the Share Modal for external sharing, customer workspace access, or exporting to Excel caused the modal to expand off-screen, hiding the tabs. The modal will now scroll appropriately, ensuring all tabs are visible and accessible, including the Export to Excel option.

Version 21.6.1

What’s fixed:

  • Resolved an issue that required OBX License and Permission to create a Board with Task Milestones (e.g. when a Board is created from an Opportunity using automation). The background process to calculate Milestone Progress will now run in system mode irrespective of License or Permissions.

Version 21.6

What’s fixed:

  • Fixes to Customization Assessment Tools
  • Improvement to the scheduling of background jobs (Board Hierarchy Rollup Batch) to avoid Flex Queue Limits.
  • Fixed an issue when assigning a Contact Role to a large number of Tasks.

Version 21.5

What’s fixed:

  • Increased limit of Board Type, Board Template, Task Template and List Template
  • Increased limit of Task Categories displayed on the Task modal and for import
  • Tasks Dependencies are recalculated and rescheduled only if certain fields are updated

Version 21.4.1

What’s fixed:

  • Automatically mark all Templates that were created before the upgrade as Visible in Template Library. Templates that should not be listed as visible can later be hidden.

Version 21.4

What’s improved:

  • Users now have the ability to distinguish Templates for automation from Templates for manual import. If a Template is marked as Visible in the Template Library (using the checkbox in the Details tab), it means that it can be manually imported. Templates intended for automations only can be left unchecked. This added level of control should also mitigate performance issues as it will only need to load visible templates.
  • Performance of the drag and drop Tasks between Lists on Board View.

Version 21.3

What’s improved:

  • Multiple Dependencies Improved! When dependencies are set, project timelines are updated accordingly not only when Tasks are delayed, but also when they are anticipated. Anticipating a Task, is going to anticipate all its Successors automatically!
  • Improved Task Templates Import The error “It is not possible to create such a Dependency Relationship as link between them or Tasks in their structure already exists” that appeared when importing large Task Templates has been resolved.
  • Various security improvements

What’s fixed:

  • Board Health modal picklist malfunctioning: Values (red, amber and green) are now visible when adding Health Rating to Boards.
  • Dependencies are no longer blocking the removal of Imported Templates (and Tasks linked to them)
  • Task Categories: Some task categories were not imported when there’re > 50 task categories on the org

Version 21.2.3

What’s improved:

  • In orgs with > 50 active Task Categories, when Tasks are imported on Boards from a Template with Task Categories, some Task categories were not assigned. The limit of the task categories checked during tasks import has now been increased to 200.

Version 21.2.2

What’s improved:

  • Security Improvement of Object and Field Level security enforcement

  • Task Contributors were not automatically created from Task Templates when Boards were created via Apex Trigger and the access to Boards is set to ‘Private’ in Sharing Settings.

Version 21.2.1

What’s improved:

  • When a Board with Milestones was copied (either manually or as a Board Template), Milestones on the Tasks were present and visible on Task cards and Task record pages, but Milestone Progresses were missing. The impact of this was that  Milestones were not displayed in the Milestones Timeline component on the Board record page.
  • Improved validation process when importing Task Templates into Boards to work with Single and Multiple Task Dependencies.
  • New List Views created with default SF filter failed to load when added to Task or Board Menus on the Precursive OBX tab. When we create a new list view of Boards (no custom filters are added), the new filter is now visible and functions correctly from Menu>Boards/Tasks.
  • Template Preview error fixed - when clicking on the List Template Preview (Precursive Templates tab), it gave an error if users had more than one List Template.
  • Links to files were not visible in Feed popout (from the banner of Precursive OBX tab) after sharing them via the Chatter.

Version 20.0 - Summer '21

New Features

  • Work Breakdown Structure: we’ve added the ability to break down Tasks into smaller pieces, called Subtasks , and gather group of Subtasks under the same umbrella, called Parent Task.
  • Contact Notifications: will give you the possibility to add Contacts (i.e. your customer's stakeholders) as Task Contributors and send them notifications when their Tasks are ready for them to work on. Learn How to Enable Contact Notifications .

Version 17.0.1 - Winter '21

New Features

  • Precursive Milestones & Milestone Measures: you can now define your Milestones and Milestone measures and assign Milestones to your Tasks for the system to automatically calculate the time in days between the completion of 2 Milestone Tasks. You can also set a Date Field as the start date of your Milestone Measure and calculate the time in days between set Date Field (i.e. Opportunity Closed Won) and a Milestone. Learn more about Defining Precursive Milestones & Milestone Measures  and Hit the Gold of your Time-to-value Forecasting!
  • Template Import History: that is a new section on the right-hand side, expandable pane of a Precursive Board that  lets you see what Task Templates have been imported into the Board, either from the select Board Type upon creation of the Board, or manually. From here you can also easily remove templates that you imported by mistake. Please see Template Import History for more information.
  • Converting Board into a Template: you can now easily create Board Templates (inclusive of Task and List Templates) and Board Types directly from any Precursive Board. No Excel spreadsheet is needed. See Precursive Board Templates  for more information and learn how to Ride the Wave of Your Success.
  • Advanced Filtering: you can now create custom List Views to add to your Tasks and Boards menus on the Precursive OBX Tab. Learn how to Create Custom Menu Items and Filters for use with Lightning Components and how to Filter & Conquer!

Please see Precursive Winter Release '21 for more information.

Version 16.10 - Summer '20

New Features

  • Rebranding of Precursive OBX: you will now see the Precursive OBX Logo and Precursive naming throughout the product. Note - Changes will only occur in the labelling and not the API names so this will have no impact on reporting or custom configurations.
  • Precursive OBX Lightning Components: you can now add the 'Precursive OBX' tab as a tab on every Board record and filter it to automatically display the record's Tasks. Learn how to Embed Precursive OBX in the Lightning Record Page .
  • Precursive Board List Lightning Component: that allows the display of all related(child) boards in a Board Hierarchy. When you click onto a board from the Precursive Boards tab this will open up the detail record page where contributors will see all related boards. From here contributors can drill into and navigate between all associated boards. Learn how to Set-up Board Hierarchy .
  • Precursive Task Checklist Lightning Component: you can now add Task Checklist Items to your Tasks and tick them off directly from the Task record detail page. See how to Add Checklists to Task Templates .
  • Precursive Task Contributors Lightning Component: you can now now assign, edit and delete Task contributors directly from the Task record detail page. Learn about Adding Task Contributors .
  • Precursive Board Team Lightning Component: When viewing a Precursive Board detail record page the Board Team component will enable contributors visibility of all assigned team members and extend the ability to edit, add and delete contributors all in one place. In the Advanced Options, users will be able to assign access levels and task(s) by roles, which will place that specific user to all tasks on a board with a specified role placeholder. In addition, users can be assigned to role placeholders not only on one board but to all related boards associated in a board hierarchy. Please see Managing Board Team Members for more information.
  • Precursive Board Process Path Lightning Component: that extends stage visibility and edits functionality directly from a Precursive Board record page. Please see Precursive Board Process Path  for more information.
  • Precursive Task List Lightning Component: that opens up the visibility of related subtasks within a single parent task record detail page. Contributors will be able to complete, change the status, reassign ownership, and log time against subtasks.
  • Precursive Task Time History Lightning Component: Task Time History is a feature that not only shows all-time logged against a single task within the record detail page, but extends functionality to edit, remove, and add time.
  • Precursive Task Path Lightning Component: that allows contributors status visibility and edit capabilities of a single task within its record page. From the task record page, the status can be updated manually by selecting the desired value within the task path or editing the list value.
  • Improved Precursive Plan View: the precursive Plan view has a few new features in addition to an upgrade in speed performance. Users now can easily navigate between tasks with just a few clicks. In the plan view, there are a couple of new buttons within the header that allows the user to expand all related boards within a board hierarchy and collapse Parent tasks. When viewing a board in the plan view users will now have visibility of not only a project’s “Status Overview” but also all it’s currently active Parent and subtasks. Please see Board, Plan and Table View for all the details.

  • Cross Board Dependencies: you can now set task dependencies between multiple Parent and Child boards within a board hierarchy relationship. This means that a task(s) from a child board can have a dependency(predecessor) of a task within a Parent board and vice versa. This relationship can be established manually from the board level or via a Task Template. Learn how to Create Cross Board Dependencies within a Board Hierarchy .
  • Contact Roles: you can now assign Contacts as Task Contributors or Team Members on a Board. About Contact Roles .

Additional improvements

Since the original release of OBX 16.10, we’ve been making additional improvements and fixing issues that have been identified. The patch 16.10.3 will be available on the AppExchange from 14th January and will be pushed to all our customers who have not opted-out of automatic upgrades on the 21st January.

  • UI Improvements: we have fixed the styles of the chat icon appearing in the OBX tab that was blocking some part of the UI.
  • To keep consistency in the user interface and provide the same experiences using different ways of entering the same data into the system, we have improved the List field filter to include only lists from the current board so that it can be also used when added to the right side pane.
  • Automation enablers: Some of the customizations stopped working after the 16.10 release like process builders completing tasks automatically based on sub-task status. This was related to our core trigger behaviour that was changed. It is now fixed so this issue will not appear anymore. We improved actions being made by non-licensed users. After recent release, when Board was created by a user without a license or with insufficient permissions granted it caused that Task Contributors could not have been created and this behaviour is fixed in 16.10.3 version. Customers who use complex Board Hierarchies could notice in the apex jobs that some batches were repeated multiple times. This issue didn’t directly affect the functioning of the app but will not appear after the upgrade.
  • Performance improvements: Customers who use complex Board Hierarchies could notice errors thrown when trying to expand or collapse a related board. In the newest version, we reviewed these and we improved the error handling and the performance of this view. Customers with a large number of notifications could experience a heap size error when opening the OBX tab. We’ve limited the number of notifications to a number that can be displayed without causing this error.
